Tyler Randles Places Second in State Apprenticeship Contest
Speer Mechanical is proud to recognize Tyler Randles for his outstanding achievement of representing Columbus, OH Local 189 United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Mechanical Equipment Service Technicians and placing second in the State Apprenticeship competition held at Local 392 in Cincinnati, Ohio April 22-24, 2014.
Randles’ second-place achievement is a most prestigious honor, earned through hard work and diligent study during the last five years of his apprenticeship while serving Speer Mechanical customers in Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia under the guidance of his supervisor, Gary Wallace.
The rigorous three-day competition features the best apprentices throughout Ohio from numerous apprenticeship-training programs. Apprentices compete among their Ohio peers across disciplines of service related work, demonstrating their proficiency in the skills they have learned throughout their five-year certified training program.
In addition to written testing, apprentices are also tested on skills in blueprint reading, welding, torch cutting, solder and brazing, assembly, tube bending, trouble shooting, rigging, and transit.
